Hadrian's Wall in 4 days
From Bowness-on-Solway to Wallsend with the best forts in between.
Hadrian's Wall ran 73 miles across northern England from 122 AD, marking the northern frontier of the Roman Empire. The best-preserved stretch — across the Whin Sill in Northumberland — survives at standing-stone height. This four-day walk-or-drive itinerary covers the wall's most spectacular section, with the major forts of Vindolanda, Housesteads, Birdoswald and Chesters serving as anchor stops.
