Details LEEDS SE2633 STANNINGLEY ROAD, Armley 714-1/32/495 (North side (off)) War Memorial in Armley Park GV II First World War memorial. c1920. Ashlar. In the form of a wayside cross, in Gothic Revival style. 6-sided plinth and 2-stage open-sided shaft surmounted by a cross. Each side of the plinth has 3 cusped niches containing lists of names, a border above has the inscription: TRUE LOVE BY LIFE/ TRUE LOVE BY DEATH/ IS TRIED. LIVE THOU/ FOR ENGLAND, WE/ FOR ENGLAND DIED./ 1914-1919. Listing NGR: SE2690533806 This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 31 January 2017.
