Britain's historic spa towns

Bath, Buxton, Cheltenham, Tunbridge Wells, Royal Leamington Spa.

Britain's spa towns were the Georgian and Victorian middle classes' summer resorts: Bath (the original), Buxton (with its Crescent restored as a modern hotel-spa), Cheltenham (still affecting Regency manners), Royal Leamington Spa, Tunbridge Wells, Harrogate, and Llandrindod Wells. Each retains pump rooms and assembly rooms worth a deliberate detour.
