Category B Date Added 04/11/1971 Local Authority Dumfries And Galloway Planning Authority Dumfries And Galloway Parish New Abbey NGR NX 95255 65593 Coordinates 295255, 565593 — Dated 1816. Tall circular monument, reducing in diameter and set back over plinth and ground floor. White granite rubble. South-facing door (leading to internal wheel stair) in ground, hood-moulded red ashlar plaque in stage above, and continuous string over; otherwise, small rectangular window openings with splayed reveals at each of 4 levels facing 3 directions. Original corbelled parapet above ground and above wallhead gone, corbels only remain at top. — Erected "to record the valour of.....British, Belgian and Prussian soldiers who....gained the victory of Waterloo". Foundation stone laid 6.10.1815.
