Category C Date Added 23/07/2001 Local Authority Orkney Islands Planning Authority Orkney Islands Parish Papa Westray NGR HY 48916 51750 Coordinates 348916, 1051750 — Earlier 20th century. Obelisk war memorial. Pink granite. Square-plan plinth; tiered base, dedicated to the men who died during WWI and rectangular plaque commemorating those who died during WWII. Decorative pedimented section to each face of inscribed shaft. Surmounting obelisk; spider web carved onto one face. 3-sided flagstone wall surrounds memorial. — Sited on high ground, this landmark memorial commemorates the men of Papa Westray who died during the World Wars. Similar in design to the war memorial of Westray (see separate List).
