Details LEEDS SE3036 ST MARTIN'S VIEW, Potternewton 714-1/19/1037 (North side) War Memorial 1 metre south of Church of St Martin GV II War memorial. c1920. Gritstone. In the style of a medieval pilgrims' cross. Octagonal base with recessed panels, the front panel with raised lettering: 'TO THE/ GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN MEMORY/ OF THOSE/ WHO DIED FOR US/ IN THE/ GREAT WAR/ 1914, 1918'. Tall tapering cross shaft surmounted by floriate cross on carved octagonal plinth. The shaft has a carved shield with anchor and papal cross surmounted by a crown. Listing NGR: SE3081536271 This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 31 January 2017.
