Details SU 67 SW TIDMARSH """-"" -- - 4/9 The Mill House And The Mill Flat G.V. II Mill, now house and flat. C18 and C19. Red brick with some grey in window arches, and plinth to left. Old tile roof, half hipped to left with end stack to left and stack in front of ridge off-centre to right. Large gabled dormer off-centre to left with 2-light leaded casement, probably formerly loft door. 2 storeys and attic. L-plan. 6 first floor 2-light metal casements, third from left with segmental relieving arch and tiles in tympanum. 5 ground floor 2-light metal casements, 4 to left with segmental relieving arches and tiles in tympanum. 2 segmental headed boarded doors to far left and right. Blocked segmental headed doorway between second and third windows from left. West front: white painted gable end to left with 2 first floor 2-light C20 leaded casements flanking central one-light casement, and one ground floor 2-light segmental headed leaded casement. Right-hand block: White painted brick with plat band. Old tile roof with large ridge stack off-centre to right and stack behind ridge off-centre to right. Large central timber framed gabled eaves dormer with 2-light leaded casement, formerly loft door. 2 storeys and attic. 2 first floor 6-light leaded mullioned and transomed windows flanking 2 central one-light leaded casements. Ground floor 2-light leaded casement to right and 3-light leaded casement to left flanking central half glazed door with C20 gabled brick porch. Lytton Strachey lived here from 1917 to 1924.
