Details STOKE BY NAYLAND 922/0/10049 War Memorial in the churchyard of St M 31-MAY-01 ary's Church GV II War memorial. c.1920. Ashlar. Memorial is in the form of a churchyard preaching cross. An octagonal stepped base supports a square plinth which becomes octagonal at the top. From this rises a crucifix, the cross with Christ and the octagonal shaft all in one. On the plinth are inscribed the names of the Fallen in both World Wars. This finely-detailed memorial forms a group with the nearby Church of St. Mary (qv). Listing NGR: TL9869836274 This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 13 January 2017.
