Details UPWALTHAM SU 91 SW 9/89 The Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin 5.6.58 (Previously listed as Church of the Ascension) - I Chancel, nave with western bell turret which is weather-boarded with hipped tiled roof; also south porch. C12. Chancel C13 with apsidal end. Roughcast Wealden sandstone with tiled roof. One of the three apsidal ended medieval churches in Sussex. Crown post roof. C12 piscina made from a volute capital.
