Details SPROATLEY 1882/0/10008 War Memorial 22-AUG-01 II War memorial. c. 1920. Pink sand stone and polished black marble with cast iron railings. Tall circular column surmounted by a cross stands on a rectangular base. Base has a black marble plaque to each face inscribed with the names of those inhabitants of Sproatley who "gave their lives fighting for God, King & Empire, 1914-1918 " and also the names of those who "fought" and those who "served" in the Great War. The stepped base of this memorial is surrounded by a low stone wall topped with cast iron spearhead railings and square corner posts topped onion finials. Listing NGR: TA1926834387 This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 1 February 2017.
