Details 1062/0/10002 12-OCT-04 SOTTERLEY SOUTHWELL LANE Sotterley War Memorial GV II War memorial. c.1920. Stone ashlar. The memorial is in the form of a wayside cross and stands on a stepped plinth. The shaft and cross on top are of octagonal section, perhaps intending to echo the octagonal plan form of the cemetery chapel nearby (q.v.). This is a well-detailed First World War memorial forming a good group with the cemetery chapel at a rural cross-roads. This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 13 January 2017.
