Details SE 01NW RIPPONDEN (former U.D.) OLDHAM ROAD (west side), SE 038197 Ripponden 5/88 War Memorial opposite _ Ripponden Post Office _ II War memorial probably c.1922 when many other similar monuments were erected in the area. Rock faced granite plinth with marble inset slabs surmounted by carved stone statue of soldier in 1st World War battle-dress. Plinth in form of tapering obelisk with tablets on all 4 faces recording the names of the fallen of the 1914-1919 war and 1939-1945. Prominently sited above the road in the town centre. Listing NGR: SE0389019737 This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 31 January 2017.
