Details MATERIALS: Granite wheel cross with applied metal lettering. DESCRIPTION: Morval War Memorial is located at the roadside of the A387, approximately 70m to the south-east of the Memorial Hall and Old School House (Grade II-listed). It consists of a tall wheel-head cross in granite, with interlace patterns carved in low relief decorating the cross head. The cross rises from a plinth, square on plan, standing a single stepped base. Two faces of the plinth form inset panels with inscriptions in applied metal lettering. The front panel reads IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF/ THE BRAVE MEN OF MORVAL/ WHO MADE THE SUPREME SACRIFICE/ IN THE GREAT WAR/ 1914 – 1918/ (7 NAMES). The face to the right carries a later inscription for the Second World War, reading ALSO THE WORLD WAR./ 1939 – 1945/ (4 NAMES). This List entry has been amended to add the source for War Memorials Register.
