Details GILLING WITH HARTFORTH HIGH STREET NZ 1805-1905 AND SEDBURY Gilling West 14/75 Gilling Bridge over Gilling Beck GV II Bridge. C15 and 1799. Ashlar. 3 segmental arches of 1799, of even voussoirs with archivolt bands, resting on triangular cutwaters with C20 concrete foundations; the soffits of the arches have herringbone tooling. Further south, a smaller dry arch of C15, with 5 square ribs. The bridge on the upstream side is obscured by a metal footbridge, and has been heavily restored on the downstream side. The Quarter Sessions at Northallerton allowed £800 for rebuilding the bridge in 1799. Jervoise, Ancient Bridges of the North of England (1931) p 86.
