Details NY 74 NW 3/30 KNARESDALE WITH KIRKHAUGH; ALSTON MOOR, A689 (north of Alston), Gilderdale Bridge GV II Bridge, dated 1836. Coursed, squared rubble with flat copings. Curved lead-ups have low rectangular end piers with chamfered capstones. Single tall segmental arch, with arch ring and central projecting stone drain spout above and pilaster buttresses to either side. To centre of inner faces of each parapet are panels with moulded borders with dated inscription: This BRIDGE was Built BY THE Counties of Northumberland & Cumberland 1836. Crosses county boundary between Cumbria and Northumberland. This asset was previously listed twice. The duplicate record (List entry number 1042921) was removed from the List on 05 April 2019. The remaining record (List entry number 1104899) falls within the parishes of both Alston Moor and Knaresdale with Kirkhaugh.
