Details A war memorial cross of 1920s date. MATERIALS: of stone, coarsely dressed to the base and plinth and ashlar to the shaft and cross. DESCRIPTION: this war memorial cross is on a rectangular base and sloping plinth. The square shaft is surmounted by a plain Latin cross. The front (west) face of the plinth has a copper plaque inscribed: TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN PROUD AND GRATEFUL MEMORY/ OF THE MEN OF THIS VILLAGE/ WHO SERVED IN THE GREAT WAR/ 1914 - 1918/ KILLED IN ACTION/ (NAMES)/ THESE RETURNED/ (NAMES). Below is another copper plaque, inscribed: 1939 - 1945/ KILLED IN ACTION/ (NAME)/ THESE RETURNED/ (NAMES). This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 24 November 2017.
