Details 1. 5224 HIGH STREET War Memorial and enclosure walls SP 1539 SW 9/201 II GV 2. 1919 designed by F L Griggs. Stone. Octagonal. Two steps; high plinth with panels of names below shields of local families. Tall shaft capped by gabled cross. At base of shaft are further shields. The memorial is in an enclosure with low rubble walls with weathered capping, on south side the wall is a retaining wall, about 4 ft 6, to road. An important focal point. Listing NGR: SP1511139156 This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 10 January 2017.
