Details 832/0/10030 31-MAY-01 CAVENDISH THE GREEN War Memorial GV II War Memorial. 1919-20. By Leonard Crowfoot. Ashlar: Portland stone cross with York stone base. Bronze plaques. Gothic style in the form of a wayside cross. Hexagonal plinth with the names of the Fallen on bronze plaques stands on stepped base. Above the plinth a frieze of quatrefoils from which rises the shaft of the cross. At the top a foliage capital supports the cross. There are also names from the 2nd World War and from the 1956 Cyprus conflict. The memorial is a finely detailed design and is part of a significant group of historic buildings surrounding the Green. Listing NGR: TL8051346464 This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 13 January 2017.
