Details SD 82 SE BACUP SOUTH STREET (south side) 13/58 Cast iron wall to bridge - - II Cast iron wall, formerly part of bridge over River Irwell dated 1883-4; only part of right half remaining. Gothic style: 5 sections, each with 3 Tudor-arched panels and roll-moulded weathered battlements. Section at left end (but presumably originally the centre of a longer wall) has moulded coat of Arms of Bacup bearing the motto HONOR ET INDUSTRIA and lettered at the head and sides JOHN HARGREAVES MAYOR 1883-4; similar lettering above J. WILSON BOROUGH ENGINEER,and below JAMES BARKER & SONS. ENGINEERS BACUP 1883. Listing NGR: SD8693322935 Legacy The contents of this record have been generated from a legacy data system.
