Details SJ 97 SW SJ 9163 7113 2/68 SUTTON C.P., LONDON ROAD, Canal Bridge Number 45 II Road bridge over the Macclesfield Canal, c1827. By Thomas Telford. Coursed rubble with ashlar dressings. Single span. Front: horseshoe arch with voussoirs. Band below parapet and chamfered ashlar coping. Concave retaining walls to upstream side terminating in square piers. The downstream side has a wood and steel footbridge adjoining (not included). One half of this bridge lies in Macclesfield former M.B.(q.v.) See Bridge No. 44 in BULLOCKS LANE and Bridge No. 46 in GAWEND LANE. Listing NGR: SJ9162471122 Legacy The contents of this record have been generated from a legacy data system.
