Dark sky Britain: where to see the stars

Designated Dark Sky Reserves and Discovery Sites for stargazing without light pollution.

Britain has eight International Dark Sky Reserves and Parks, plus around 150 official Dark Sky Discovery Sites. The darkest skies are in the Brecon Beacons, Northumberland, Galloway, the Cairngorms and the South Downs. Best viewing is on moonless nights between October and March.
