Roman villas of Britain in 5 days
Five of Britain's best-preserved Roman country houses.
Roman Britain saw the construction of perhaps a thousand villas — palatial country estates owned by Romanised Britons and continental settlers. The five with the best surviving mosaics, hypocausts and excavated walls run from Sussex to Yorkshire and reward a leisurely week of driving and walking. All have on-site interpretation; most are run by English Heritage or the National Trust.
