The Fermanagh Lakelands
Island monasteries, National Trust estates and limestone caves around Lough Erne in County Fermanagh.
Lough Erne, the second-largest lake system in Northern Ireland and Ulster, is dotted with islands including Devenish, site of an early Christian monastery. Enniskillen Castle, now home to the Fermanagh County Museum, overlooks the town, while Castle Coole and Florence Court, both National Trust estates, and the Crom Estate on Upper Lough Erne preserve the great houses of the county. Tully Castle stands on the lough's southern shore, and inland the Marble Arch Caves and Cuilcagh mountain, the highest point in both Fermanagh and County Cavan, complete the trail.
