Britain has over 5,000 km of named coast and several thousand named beaches. We've picked twenty across England that span the variety — sand-and-shingle Norfolk, basalt-shingle Sussex, Cornish coves, Yorkshire surfing, Northumberland's vast empty sands. Most are dog-friendly outside the May–September season and all are reachable by car.
