Britain's prehistoric burial chambers

Long barrows, dolmens and chambered tombs from 4000 BC.

Britain has thousands of intact prehistoric burial structures, from the Neolithic long barrows of Wessex (West Kennet, Wayland's Smithy) to the chambered cairns of Orkney (Maeshowe), Wales (Bryn Celli Ddu, Pentre Ifan), and the New Grange-style Boyne tombs in Northern Ireland. Many are still freely accessible by footpath.
