Worsbrough dates back to at least the 7th century, and is listed within the Wapentake of Staincross, Yorkshire, in the Domesday Book: <blockquote> In Wircesburg Gerneber and Haldene had five carucates of land and a half to be taxed where there may be four ploughs.
