Details A First World War memorial erected in 1921, with later additions following the Second World War. MATERIALS: the memorial is constructed from Hornton stone. DESCRIPTION: the memorial stands at a central location in the village. It consists of an obelisk made of Hornton stone on a square plinth. The plinth stands on a two-stepped square base. The south face of the plinth is inscribed with the dedication THIS OBELISK WAS/ ERECTED BY THE/ PARISHIONERS OF/ WORMLEIGHTON IN/ LOVING MEMORY OF/ THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR/ 1914 - 1918/ AND/ 1939 - 1945. The east side of the plinth bears the names of those who fell in the First and Second World Wars. This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 10 January 2018.
