Details SUNDERLAND NZ3956SE RYHOPE ROAD 920-1/22/189 (West side (off)) War memorial south of Christ Church GV II War memorial in garden S of Christ Church (qv). c1920 to men of the parish who died in the Great War 1914-1918. Ashlar. Octagonal plan. 3 steps to pedestal, alternate sides projecting, with names of dead carved in panels on sides; moulded plinth to tall tapered octagonal shaft, blind tracery below and on cornice, with chamfered stone cross with richly-carved foliate terminals. Listing NGR: NZ3978056024 This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 20 July 2017.
