Details First World War memorial, 1920, with the names of those lost during the Second World War added later. Aberdeen granite, simple Celtic cross-style design. The war memorial is aligned with the centre of St Werburg Church's west window and is set upon a square plinth with a tapering square base with relief lettering to the front (west) face that reads 'FOR GOD, FOR KING, FOR COUNTRY' with the names, rank and regiment of 10 men who died. At the bottom of the base is further relief lettering that reads 'THEY WHOM THIS CROSS COMMEMORATES WERE AMONG/ THOSE WHO IN THE GREAT WAR OF 1914-1919 ENDURED/ HARDNESS, FACED DANGER AND PASSED OUT OF THE SIGHT/ OF MEN BY THE PATH OF DUTY AND SELF SACRIFICE/ THEIR NAME LIVETH EVERMORE/ ECCLESIASTICUS C44V14'. The south face has '1939 - 1945' in relief numerals, along with the name, rank and regiment of three men who died in relief lettering. Above the base is a simple Celtic-style cross.
