Details 563/0/10007 25-JUN-02 NEWBY AND SCALBY CHURCH HILL War Memorial at the Church of St Laurence GV II War memorial. 1920. Ashlar. Octagonal village cross. Triangular ashlar base supports two hexagonal stone steps. Tall hexagonal base is topped with a taller hexagonal pier with inscription commemorating those in the village who gave their lives in both the Great War and also in the Second World War. Chamfered stepped hexagonal plinth to a tall hexagonal cross topped with a carved stone sword. This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 1 February 2017.
