Details TQ 0694 SW 13/128 RICKMANSWORTH CHURCH STREET (West side) Rickmansworth War Memorial about 40m E of Church of St. Mary GV II War Memorial. 1921. By W. Reid Dick. Ashlar. 3 steps up to massive rectangular base to slightly tapering pylon with later pyramidal capping. Carved figures of Grief with date 1914 and Victory with date 1918 lean on sides of pylon. Names of war dead inscribed. Moved from original site at W end of High Street in 1960's at which time a bronze statue of a lion and an eagle which surmounted this monument was moved elsewhere, see War Memorial Statue, NORTHWAY. Listing NGR: TQ0617894219 This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 12 January 2017.
