Details SANDWELL MB BIRMINGHAM CANAL SO 99 SE Birmingham Level, Dudley Port Tipton 4/8 Towpath bridge over New Main Line at junction with Netherton Tunnel Branch II Towpath bridge. Mid-C19. Cast iron with brick abutments which have some sandstone dressings. Single shallow segmental arch. Sides are a single casting pierced to form lattice pattern of saltire crosses. Inscribed: "TOLL END WORKS". Netherton Tunnel was opened in 1858. (Paget-Tomlinson, EW: The Complete Book of Canal and River Navigations, 1978, p 96).
