Details This list entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 10 September 2021 to remove superfluous amendment details and to reformat the text to current standards ST 71 NE 4/34 HINTON ST MARY HINTON ST MARY VILLAGE Tithe Barn approximately 100m South of Hinton St Mary Manor House (Formerly listed as Barn at Manor (now Recreation Hall)) 4.10.60 GV II* Tithe barn, probably C15, altered into a theatre 1929-39. Rubble and ashlar walls with gable-ended, tiled roof. Two tranceptal entrance bays to the north. Considerably restored roof of collar-braced trusses on vertical wall posts supported on stone corbels. Wind-braced purlins. Lateral inserted stone fireplace incorporating C15 carved stone panel of three squares with sub-cusped quatrefoils and carved bosses. RCHM, Dorset, vol III, p 116, no 2.
