Details STEEPLE ASTON 1715/0/10010 War Memorial 20-SEP-04 II War memorial. Designed 1920 by F E Howard and carved and erected in 1921 by Messrs Booth of Banbury. Rubble stone and ashlar. The cross stands on an octagonal rubble stone base with a chamfered plinth. Three upper steps are carved with the names of those who died in both World Wars. An octagonal stone base supports an octagonal broached cross shaft topped with a carved 'Gothic' style cross with carved foliate decoration. This memorial was dedicated at a service held on July 31st 1921 taken by the Venerable Archdeacon Archer-Houblon and the memorial itself was unveiled by Lord Valentia. This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 11 January 2017.
