Details SX 55 NE SPARKWELL SPARKWELL 10/134 Sparkwell Bridge II Road bridge over railway cutting. Circa 1848. Coursed stone rubble with wide segmental arch with granite ashlar voussoirs, stringcourse and granite coping to parapet. South Devon Railway was authorised in 1844. This section from Totnes to Laira (Plymouth) was opened in 1848. The South Devon Company was dissolved in 1878, but the Great Western Railway took over 2 years earlier in 1878.
