Details A First World War memorial unveiled in 1922. MATERIALS: the memorial is constructed from Cornish granite. DESCRIPTION: the war memorial is located in a long, narrow memorial garden which is accessed off the south side of Main Street. The memorial itself stands at the southern end of the garden, at the head of the central path. The memorial is a rough-hewn wheel cross which stands around 3m tall, on a plinth with rounded upper corner and a flat front face with recessed inscription panel, all on a three-stepped concrete base. The plinth bears the inscriptions in incised and blacked lettering. The inscription reads: TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN LOVING/ MEMORY OF THE MEN OF THIS PARISH/ WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR/ 1914 - 1918/ (NAMES)/ THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE. In front of the memorial is a single step with an inscription which reads: A PLACE OF REMEMBRANCE.
