Details SO 81 SW BROOKTHORPE-with- STROUD ROAD WHADDON (west side), Brookthorpe 5/8 Smith monument in the churchyard approximately 5m south of Church of St. Swithin GV II Chest tomb. Dated 1697. Limestone. Lyre-ended with oval end inscription panels in rich Rococo surrounds, each panel with death's head below, that to east with fleur-de-lys above, that to west with carved face above. Carved border to recessed inscription panels on sides flanked by floral carving in panels. Ovolo moulded top and chamfered base. Inscribed on south side to Susanna Smith, died 1697; other members of family commemorated on north side.
