Details SADDLEWORTH POTS AND PANS SE 00 NW (north of Greenfield) 4/240 Saddleworth War Memorial II War memorial. "Erected by the people of Saddleworth 1923". Architect - C.B. Howcroft, builder C.Winterbottom. Ashlar. Large obelisk on stylobate with rolls of honour attached to each side. Carved sword, reeded band and a wreath on each face of the obelisk. One inscription reads "True love by life - true love by death is tried. Live thou for England - we for England died". Listing NGR: SE0101805120 This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 5 October 2017.
