Heritage listing
Reason for designation: Listed as an early C19 bridge, one of a group on this route. History: The bridge which gave name to the village. Datestone 1825 inscribed DI; one of a number of such bridges on the mountain road and pass between Pontsticill and Talybont probably resulting from road improvements associated with the development of the Brecknock and Abergavenny canal. This bridge carried the main road across the Taf Fechan river. Exterior: Single span river bridge with a slightly asymmetrical segmental arch. Built of stone rubble with dressed stone voussoirs and keystone, low parapet with flat coping defined by a string course on the outer face, splayed approaches and abutments, tiered to SW. Some unsympathetic rebuilding of N parapet and repointing. Location: NE of Pontsticill village and adjacent to the Water Treatment Works below Pontsticill Reservoir.
From Cadw under OGL v3.
