Details A First World War memorial, set up circa 1920. MATERIALS Stone. DESCRIPTION The memorial takes the form of an obelisk, set on a square plinth atop a slightly larger square base. The whole stands on a three-stepped stone platform. At each corner of the second step of the platform is a post in the shape of a smaller obelisk. The plinth, base, and top step of the platform are inscribed: IN LOVING MEMORY OF / THE SOLDIERS OF / PAXFORD / WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR / ENGLAND AND THE WORLD / followed by the names of the eleven men of the village who died in the First World War. This List entry has been amended to add the source for War Memorials Online.
