Details This list entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 7 October 2021 to reformat text to current standards TL 96 NW 2/92 PAKENHAM GRIMSTONE END Watermill GV II* Watermill. Datestone set into brick of south gable wall has C L 1814 for Charles Low, miller in the early C19. He apparently rebuilt the mill partly on earlier foundations. Restored to full working order in late 1970's. Four storeys. Tarred brick ground storey, timber-framed upper storeys, rendered on front, weatherboarded sides. Pantiled roof with lucam on south slope. Two small-paned sashes to ground storey and two doors, all with segmental arched heads. Three windows to upper storeys: small-paned sashes. Upper loading door has a semi-circular fanlight. Machinery complete: internal low breast shot waterwheel of c,1900. Three pairs of underdriven millstones. On first floor, a Tattersall Midget roller mill.
