Category B Date Added 16/04/1971 Local Authority Aberdeenshire Planning Authority Aberdeenshire Parish Strichen NGR NJ 94720 54749 Coordinates 394720, 854749 — 1620, much overgrown and roof ruinous. Rubble-built with vaulted lower portion, skewputts, curved outside stair to former laird's loft above, with doorhead raised in roof. Fragments only of arch opening into church at N. gable. — Strichen Parish was formed in 1620 from parts of Rathen and Fraserburgh and a church and the surviving family burial aisle built by Thomas Fraser of Strichen. Constituted 1627, disjunction confirmed by Act of Parliament 1633.
