Details First World War memorial cross of 1919 with later additions for the Second World War. MATERIALS: constructed of Cornish granite. DESCRIPTION: the war memorial is a grey Latin cross on a tapering shaft. The shaft rises from a square plinth supported by a three-stepped square base. The dedication is located at the base of the shaft and reads βTO THE GLORIOUS/ MEMORY OF OUR/ GALLANT HEROES.β/ 1914 β 1919./ 1939 β 1945. The names are located on the plinth. The area around the memorial is a mid-C20 raised memorial garden, which is paved and lined by a low stone wall.* * Pursuant to s1 (5A) of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 (βthe Actβ) it is declared that these aforementioned features are not of special architectural or historic interest.
