Details SO 71 SW HUNTLEY NEWENT LANE (west side) 3/49 Huntley Manor II House: 1862, by S. S. Teulon. Smooth render on brick, except for one section of squared stone with ashlar dressings: stone copings to gables, slate roof. French chateau style, 2 storey and attics, irregular 'L' plan. Garden facade has moulded plinth, plain string course and moulded eaves: mansard roof with steep pyramid roofs to bays, terminating at ornate wrought-iron finials. Sash windows 2 or 4-pane, segmental heads, moulded surrounds and projecting keystones. On left return a canted bay with wrought- iron window boxes at first floor; dormer in roof. To right a large chimney breast, followed by square bay, with wedge-shaped roof, then slight set-back and 2 windows, one now a French door: above wall carried up to form tall dormers with gable copings and ball finials. To right a canted bay, short section of wall, and further square pepperpot roof and dormer, ending with gable with ball finials at foot and apex. Window with Moorish-arch and round wood tracery at foot: entrance with projecting hood on right return: square-set buttresses to ground floor. Internally ceilings to main rooms on ground floor boarded, with moulded ribs and bosses to form panels. Original moulded doorcases and panelled doors, tiled floors to halls. Stairs have flat fretwork balusters, and square newels with ball finials. Main stair window painted and obscured glass of late Cl9. 3 original stone fireplaces on ground floor.
