Details HALSALL HALSALL ROAD SD 31 SE 3/53 War Memorial - GV II War memorial. Circa 1920 incorporating cross base which is probably C15. Limestone, with cross base of sandstone. Cross base of square plan, chamfered to an octagon with a projecting roll moulding. It rests on 4 steps of octagonal plan. Shaft octagonal and tapering. Cross head is gabled and carved with crucifixion scene. Around the 2nd step is inscribed: ' This cross has been set up on the ancient base by the Halsall parishioners in memory of their kinsmen who fell for King and Country 1914-1919. Their names are inscribed below.' Listing NGR: SD3698710254 This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 2 February 2017.
