Details SD 27 SE 19/15 ALDINGHAM GLEASTON Gleaston Cornmill II Mill. C18 and C19. Stone rubble with slate roofs. Originally L-plan with later re-entrant range giving rectangular plan. East elevation of 3 storeys and 4 bays; First 2 bays form later range, second 2 bays break forward under gable. Windows have segmental heads and small-paned fixed glazing, those to second 2 bays, have lower ventilation panels. 2 segmental-arched recesses to first 2 bays which have entrances to sides. 2 gables to south, and lean-to outbuilding. North end has wheelhouse, now unroofed, with iron and timber wheel and slate launder. West elevation has segmental-headed windows and entrance to first 2 bays, second 2 bays have 3 entrances to corn drying kiln and stores. Interior has almost complete mill machinery of lowder type, 3 sets of stones, jog-scries etc. Kiln has brick cross wall and tile floor. The mill was used until late 1940s.
