Details The asset was previously listed twice also under the parish of Crediton at List entry 1197121. This entry was removed from the List on 31 January 2022. This entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 31 January 2022 to reformat the text to modern standards. SX 89 NW 7/103 CREDITON HAMLETS FORDTON Fordton Bridge GV II Road bridge over River Yeo. Probably C18 possibly earlier, widened on east side in C20. Volcanic ashlar to arches and cutwaters, otherwise volcanic rubble and some C20 concrete. Four-span bridge of segmental arches with chamfered double arch rings. Cutwaters between are carried up to parapet providing refuges. Road and parapet rise to centre. Coping is steeply weathered on both sides. Bridge widened on east side in C20 with flat concrete lintels and buttresses although parapet rebuilt similarly to original.
