Category C Date Added 30/10/2002 Supplementary Information Updated 13/02/2018 Local Authority Stirling Planning Authority Stirling Parish Balfron NGR NS 54083 88094 Coordinates 254083, 688094 β€” Circa 1790; extended to east probably early or earlier 19th century. Two-span road bridge with paired segmental-headed arches and swept wings. Coursed stugged sandstone with droved dressings (including parapet); rockfaced cutwaters to central pier. Arch rings; band course; squared coping. On west span of bridge, carved stone reading repaired 1838 . Description updated 2018. β€” This would appear to be the same 'bridge of two arches, at Ballindalloch' referred to as recently erected in the Statistical Account for Balfron. This was erected largely at the expense of Robert Dunmore, who erected a cotton mill in Balfron in 1789 and a printworks and bleachfield on the opposite bank of the Endrick in Killearn parish shortly afterwards. Other local landowners also contributed.
