Details This list entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 14/03/2016 SP 1400-1500 14/214 FAIRFORD, MILTON STREET (south side), Edmonds monument, about 8.5m north of main door in grounds of Fairford United Church (Formerly listed as Edmonds monument, about 8.5m north of main door in Congregational Chapel grounds) GV II Chest tomb. Edmonds family, late C18. Limestone. Square with large cross-gabled very flat pitched cap over deep projecting cornice with plain modules, with plain frieze supported by 4 squat unfluted Doric corner columns, with "stylobate" now at ground level. Inscriptions between on plain panels incised with Greek key pattern to corners, -------Edmonds 1789 (?) to west; John 1819 to north; Elizabeth 1842 to east. An unusual and complete design although with some weathering, especially to columns, with strong reference to the work of Ledoux. 1,960 x 2,010mm, c.1,630mm high.
