Date Added 03/03/1993 Supplementary Information Updated 01/07/2021 Type Ecclesiastical: church Local Authority Perth And Kinross Parish Aberdalgie NGR NO 06417 19436 Coordinates 306417, 719436 — The monument consists of the remains of the church that served the parish of Dupplin. The church was listed as a parsonage in the "Bagimond Roll" of 1275. It remained unappropriated in the 16th century within the patronage of the Lords of Oliphant, who were in possession of the lands from at least the 13th century. The building is situated in an old graveyard surrounded by a 19th-century wall. The building fell out of use at some date after 1618 when the parish was united to Aberdalgie. All that survives of the structure are the walls of dry-stone rubble which are greatly reduced. The church measures 13m E-W by 4.4m N-S inside walls 0.9m thick. The N and W walls are reduced to a maximum height of 1.4m and the S and E walls exist as foundations. A table tomb sits in the interior. No openings or dateable features survive. The area to be scheduled extends 2m from the exterior walls of the chapel measures a maximum of 17.9m E-W by 9.3m N-S, as shown in red on the accompanying map.
